Apparently, Ariana Grande takes requests.
The petite songstress was recently performing a private show for her biggest fans at The Theater at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. The audience was comprised of only 1,600 of Ariana’s uber-fans, all of whom were eager to hear her sing songs from her new album, “Sweetener.”
As Ariana sat on stage, she began singing the first few bars of her popular single, “Raindrops,” when a fan in the audience realized they hadn’t hit record on their phone in time to catch the beginning of the song. Since the event was so small and intimate, the fan didn’t think twice about shouting up to the singer on stage, “Wait, start again! I wasn’t recording!”
Not only did Ariana hear the fan, her response— caught in the now-viral video below— made for internet gold. Stopping her song in mid-verse, Ariana turned to the fan and asked, “Did you just say ‘start again, I wasn’t recording?’”
Turning back to the rest of the audience, Ariana explained with a giggle, “Someone said, ‘Start again. I wasn’t recording.’ And I listen! I listen.” But before she restarted, Ariana had to check: “Are you ready now?”
It’s moments like this that make us love this tiny pop star even more!
We’re sure this sort of thing wouldn’t happen at a huge arena concert, but then again… this is Ariana Grande we’re talking about! She’s notoriously dialed in with her fan base, even allowing the crowds at private events to help pick the set list for part of the show. Something tells us she really enjoys interacting with her fans, and that’s so refreshing in today’s day and age.
Way to make us all laugh, Ariana!
